An official of the Nuwara Eliya District Disaster Management Center stated that the prevailing rainy conditions have created a potential threat of landslides in vulnerable locations across the district.

Residents have been strongly advised to avoid parking vehicles near landslide-prone areas and to refrain from remaining close to unstable slopes. Those living in areas identified as at risk have been urged to exercise extreme caution and remain alert to early warning signs such as soil cracks, leaning trees and unusual ground movement.

Meanwhile, many residents said they are facing various hardships due to the continuous rainfall, which has disrupted daily activities and transportation in several parts of the area.

Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored and further instructions will be issued if weather conditions worsen.
