According to the NBRO, a Level 3 “Red Alert” landslide warning which calls for evacuation has been issued for the Yatinuwara Divisional Secretariat Division in the Kandy District.
Following the warning, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has urged residents living in high-risk areas of Yatinuwara to immediately move to safer locations.
In addition, early landslide warnings have been issued for the districts of Badulla, Kandy, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura.
Authorities advise the public to remain vigilant and follow official instructions as heavy rainfall continues to affect several parts of the country.
