Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while traveling along the Colombo–Kandy road between Pahala Kadugannawa and Mawanella due to prevailing adverse weather conditions.

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) issued the advisory, warning drivers of potential hazards including slippery roads and possible landslides along the affected stretch.

Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has taken steps to issue landslide warnings for several districts. According to the NBRO, a Level 3 “Red Alert” landslide warning which calls for evacuation has been issued for the Yatinuwara Divisional Secretariat Division in the Kandy District.

The DMC announced that residents living in high-risk areas within Yatinuwara should immediately move to safer locations to avoid possible danger.

In addition, early landslide warnings have been issued for the districts of Badulla, Kandy, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura as heavy rainfall continues to impact several parts of the country.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and advise the public to remain vigilant and follow official safety instructions.
