The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced plans to begin public consultation on the Ceylon Electricity Board’s proposal to revise electricity tariffs for the second quarter of 2026. The consultation process will start on February 25th and continue until March 18th.

According to the commission, consultations will be conducted both verbally and in writing across all nine provinces, allowing the public to express their views before the PUCSL makes a decision on the proposed tariff adjustments.

The CEB submitted its proposal to the PUCSL on February 13th, requesting a 13.56 percent increase in electricity tariffs for the period from April 1st to June 30th, 2026. This follows a previous proposal by the CEB for an 11.57 percent tariff increase for the first quarter of 2026, which was not approved by the commission.

The PUCSL emphasized that it will consider public feedback along with other relevant factors before deciding whether to approve the proposed tariff revision.
