The Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre for the Polonnaruwa District stated that the situation was assessed at 9:15 a.m. today. Based on the assessment, the stretch of road from Sungavila to the Somawathiya sacred site is currently underwater by about a foot.
As a result, the road has been temporarily closed to light vehicles. Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution and use alternative routes until water levels recede.
