The former U.S. Coast Guard Cutter DECISIVE departed Baltimore, Maryland on Friday to join the Sri Lanka Navy fleet marking the Sri Lanka Navy’s longest-ever voyage to bring a vessel home and its first transit of the Panama Canal.

Once in service, DECISIVE will strengthen Sri Lanka’s ability to counter drug trafficking & smuggling, conduct search & rescue operations,& safeguard the vital Indian Ocean sea lanes that power global trade.

Sri Lanka now leads the world in operating U.S. Excess Defense Article-transferred cutters, with 4 former U.S. Coast Guard cutters in its fleet — reflecting deep trust, interoperability, & growing U.S.-SL operational partnership at sea.
