Minister Samarasinghe said that due to regulatory and safety requirements, yellow cylinders from Laugfs cannot be refilled with Litro blue cylinders, creating difficulties for some households. He emphasized that the government will not allow any company to operate outside the law, and that the Consumer Affairs Authority has been instructed to monitor the situation to ensure fair treatment of consumers.
The Minister also accused Laugfs Gas of attempting to pressure the government to relax regulations allowing unlimited sales through the Hambantota Terminal. He stressed that no company will be allowed to misuse government concessions and that the government is ready to expand distribution and issue additional cylinders to prevent public inconvenience.
