Many households have reported difficulties in obtaining gas cylinders, while hotels, bakeries and small-scale food vendors say their operations have been disrupted due to limited supplies.
Addressing a press conference yesterday (20), Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe stated that it is the responsibility of the relevant gas companies to release adequate stocks to the public without delay.
He further noted that the government is prepared to take necessary decisions if Laugfs Gas Company fails to supply gas according to its scheduled distribution plan.
Meanwhile, Litro Gas Company announced that it has increased the daily release of gas stocks in an effort to meet demand and expressed confidence that the current shortage would be resolved by the day after tomorrow.
