The conference will commence at 2.00 p.m. at the headquarters of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress (ACBC) in Colombo.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero stated that the Sangha Conference has not been convened to pursue any political agenda. He emphasized that its primary objective is to raise awareness among the public regarding concerns faced by Buddhist monks and to formally voice objections to what he described as various forms of pressure being exerted on the Buddhist community.
The Thero further noted that the conference will serve as a platform for members of the Maha Sangha to discuss these issues collectively and communicate their stance to the broader public.
Meanwhile, a separate programme to collect signatures for a public petition urging the President to take action against separatism and separatist forces commenced yesterday (19). Organizers said the petition campaign is intended to demonstrate public support for measures aimed at safeguarding national unity
