The newly appointed Chairperson of the Lanka Sugar Company (Pvt) Ltd, Attorney-at-Law Sandamali Chandrasekara, has tendered her resignation, becoming the second chairperson to step down from the position since the appointment of the current government.
According to reports, Chandrasekara submitted her resignation letter to the subject minister, Sunil Handunnetti, on February 17. In her official communication, she cited continuous and undue pressure from local politicians as the primary reason for her departure. She alleged that these political figures were coercing her to act in violation of established laws, regulations, and government circulars.
