A total of 451,463 candidates are scheduled to sit for the examination this year. This includes 382,249 school candidates and 69,214 private candidates.
The examination will be conducted at 3,545 examination centres islandwide. In addition, 531 coordination centres and 33 regional assembly centres have been established to facilitate the smooth conduct of the examination process.
Special examination centres have been set up in Ratmalana, Tangalle, Matara and Chilaw. Furthermore, special arrangements have been made at Watareka Suneetha Vidyalaya, Maharagama Apeksha Hospital and Kaithadi Nuffield Special School to accommodate candidates requiring special facilities.
Authorities stated that necessary security arrangements will be provided by the Police and the Armed Forces throughout the examination period. The Disaster Management Center will also remain on alert to respond promptly to any emergency or disaster situation that may arise.
Candidates are required to produce a valid National Identity Card, valid passport or valid driving licence to verify their identity at the examination centre.
The Department has strictly prohibited candidates from bringing mobile phones, smart devices, electronic equipment, calculators, erasers, notebooks or any other unauthorized materials into the examination hall.
Applicants with special needs were called for applications in advance and interviewed. After reviewing their medical records, the necessary facilities have been provided to ensure they can sit the examination without difficulty.
All candidates are advised to arrive at their respective examination centres at least one hour prior to the commencement of the examination, in accordance with the timetable issued to them. They are also instructed to strictly adhere to examination rules and follow the directions given by examination staff.
