The decision was reached at a special general meeting convened today, where members deliberated extensively on the implications of the attack on the legal community.
BASL President Rajeev Amarasuriya said the move reflects the collective stance of the country’s legal fraternity in response to what he described as a grave and disturbing incident.
“This decision demonstrates solidarity with our slain colleague and underscores our serious concerns regarding the safety and security of legal professionals,” he said.
The special meeting was attended by members from across the island and was held at the Association’s headquarters in Hulftsdorp, the judicial hub of Colombo.
