Speaking at a special media briefing at Police Headquarters, he said 12 investigative teams have been assigned to the case, which left two people dead.
“The vehicle allegedly used by the suspects caught fire. We can only confirm its involvement after the forensic report. Even if there are suspicions, we cannot say with 100% certainty at this stage,” he explained.
Medawatte added that more than two people were involved in the crime and that police had received significant leads regarding the four suspects. “Additional information came in even before this press conference. I believe the case could be resolved within a day or two,” he said.
The Senior DIG emphasized that the investigation is highly sensitive and warned against circulating unverified information. “We have not officially announced anything regarding the lawyer. Some facts circulating in the media may or may not be true. Only information that does not hinder the investigation will be released,” he said.
