During the period of the procession, traffic restrictions will be implemented within Horana town. Authorities announced that vehicle movement along the Ratnapura–Panadura (A008) Road from Vidyarathna Junction to the junction near the police station will be limited.
In addition, traffic will be restricted on the B157 Horana–Anguruwatota Road from the Bo Tree area up to Waturamala Junction (approximately 800 meters), and on the B123 Horana–Moragahahena Road from Vidyarathna Junction to the Aramanagolla Industrial Estate (approximately 1 kilometre).
Police have requested motorists using these routes to follow alternative roads to minimize inconvenience.
Alternative Routes
Heavy vehicles travelling from Ratnapura towards Panadura and Colombo are advised to turn right at Siti Gas Junction, proceed along the Kalagahawila Road to Thalgahawila Junction, reach Moragahahena Junction, turn left towards Horagas Junction, and continue via Olaboduwa Junction to Gonapola Junction.
Light and heavy vehicles travelling from Ratnapura towards Anguruwatota should turn left at the Horana Police Junction, proceed to the Horana Hospital Junction, and continue towards Anguruwatota.
Light vehicles travelling from Ratnapura towards Panadura and Colombo should turn left at the Horana Police Junction, proceed via the District General Hospital Junction, travel through Waturamala Junction to Labugama Junction, turn right, and continue towards Pokunuwita Junction.
Vehicles arriving from Ratnapura to witness the perahera should turn left at the Horana Police Junction, proceed to the District General Hospital Junction, travel via Waturamala towards Labugama Road, and access parking facilities at the Graceland Circular Road, Haggalla Road, Horana Public Weekly Fair Grounds parking area, and the Urban Council parking area.
Vehicles travelling from Moragahahena towards Panadura are advised to turn right at Horagas Junction and proceed via Olaboduwa Junction to Gonapola Junction.
Vehicles arriving from Moragahahena to witness the procession should turn right at Aramanagolla Industrial Estate Junction, proceed towards Koskolawatta Junction, turn left near Dadugoda Church, and continue to the Horana Public Weekly Fair Grounds and Urban Council parking areas.
Vehicles travelling from Anguruwatota towards Panadura should turn left at Waturamala Junction, proceed to Labugama Junction, turn right towards Pokunuwita Junction, and rejoin the Ratnapura–Panadura Road.
Vehicles travelling from Anguruwatota towards Ratnapura should turn right at the District General Hospital Junction, proceed to the Police Junction, and re-enter the Ratnapura–Panadura Road.
Light vehicles travelling from Panadura towards Ratnapura and Anguruwatota should turn at Pokunuwita Junction onto the Walikala Road, proceed to Labugama Junction, turn left towards Waturamala Junction, then proceed via the District General Hospital Junction to the Police Junction before continuing their journey. Vehicles heading towards Anguruwatota may continue straight along the designated route.
Police request the public and motorists to cooperate and use the designated alternative routes to ensure minimal congestion and a smooth conduct of the annual religious procession.
