Three individuals were today (13) sentenced to death by Tamara Tennakoon, Judge of the Kalutara High Court, in connection with the 2008 Waskaduwa murder case.

The accused had been arrested by the Kalutara North Police for the fatal stabbing of Chaminda Kumara, a resident of Littletonwatte, Kuda Waskaduwa. The incident occurred at a funeral home in Waskaduwa on or around October 23, 2008.

Following the examination of preliminary evidence at the Kalutara Magistrate's Court, the Attorney General filed indictments before the High Court.

During previous hearings, both the prosecution and the defense presented their arguments. The verdict was delivered today.

Before announcing the judgment, Judge Tennakoon ordered the doors and windows of the courtroom to be closed, the lights switched off, and instructed all those present to stand.
