The shooting reportedly took place in the parking lot of a supermarket in Akuregoda. The victims — a man and a woman — were inside a car at the time of the incident and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police suspect that a T56 firearm was used in the shooting. However, no further details about the identities of the victims have been released so far.
