A cruise liner carrying 1,947 European tourists has arrived at the Hambantota International Port, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a growing tourist destination.

The vessel, sailing under the Italian flag from Thailand, also has a crew of 640 on board. The tourists are scheduled to visit several popular attractions including Udawalawa National Park, Tissamaharama, and Yala National Park during their stay.

The ship is due to proceed to the Port of Colombo following its stop in Hambantota.

Deputy Minister Ruwan Ranasinghe stated that Sri Lanka is on track to meet its tourism targets by the end of this year. Speaking at a media briefing, he also noted that a substantial allocation has been made this year to promote the country’s tourism industry.
