Key discussion on the National Commission on Women

A discussion was held this afternoon (12) at the Presidential Secretariat, on the National Commission on Women, under the patronage of Chairperson of the Parliamentary Women’s Caucus and Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Saroja Savithri Paulraj and Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

The meeting was organised by the Presidential Secretariat in response to a request made by the Parliamentary Women’s Caucus.

During the discussion, participants engaged in a detailed review of the existing physical and operational challenges faced by the National Commission on Women. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore solutions to a range of issues currently confronting the Commission.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairpersons of the Parliamentary Women’s Caucus, Chamindrani Kiriella and Samanmali Gunasinghe, along with other members of the caucus, including Hemali Weerasekara, Lakmali Hemachandra, Nilanthi Kottahachchi and Oshani Umanga. Also present were the caucus secretary;   Kushani Rohanadeera, Secretary-General of Parliament of Sri Lanka, Commissioners and the Executive Director of the National Commission on Women, officials from the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, including the Secretary and representatives from the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, the Department of National Budget and the Department of Management Services.
