ADB reaffirms support for post-cyclone recovery and education sector

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reaffirmed its commitment to support Sri Lanka’s post-cyclone recovery efforts, including rebuilding and reconstruction, during discussions with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The ADB delegation, led by newly appointed Country Director Ms. Shannon Cowlin, emphasized the bank’s readiness to continue assisting Sri Lanka in recovery initiatives following Cyclone Ditwah. The delegation also underlined its strong commitment to supporting the education sector as part of its ongoing development cooperation.

The meeting was attended by OIC/Deputy Director General, SARDMs Ms. Sona Shrestha, Country Operations Head of ADB Sri Lanka Mission Resident Ms. Cholpon Mambetova, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Director General of the External Resource Department, Ministry of Finance Mr. Samantha Bandara, and Director for the ADB Division of the External Resource Department, Ministry of Finance Mr. Ranjith Gurusinghe.
