The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington, D.C. welcomed the “Walk for Peace” on 10 February 2026, an initiative led by a group of Buddhist monks travelling across the United States to promote global peace and harmony.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington, D.C. welcomed the “Walk for Peace” on 10 February 2026, an initiative led by a group of Buddhist monks travelling across the United States to promote global peace and harmony.

As part of the programme, the Embassy joined a ‘Dana’ organised by the Sri Lankan community in the DMV area at the National United Methodist Church.

 The religious observance was attended by more than 200 Buddhist monks and members of the community, reflecting a strong spirit of unity and shared commitment to peace.

The event underscored the enduring values of compassion, mindfulness, and interfaith cooperation, while highlighting the active engagement of the Sri Lankan diaspora in fostering understanding and goodwill.
