SriLankan Airlines has issued an urgent warning to the public following the circulation of a fraudulent message on WhatsApp and Facebook that falsely uses the airline’s name and branding.

According to the national carrier, the fake promotion features the company’s official logo and convincing imagery, making it appear to be a legitimate offer. The message reportedly urges recipients to click on suspicious links and provide personal information.

In a public advisory, SriLankan Airlines confirmed that the promotion is a scam and clarified that the airline does not request personal details or payments through WhatsApp, Facebook, or any other social media platforms.

The airline strongly advised the public not to click on unfamiliar links or share sensitive information such as National Identity Card (NIC) numbers, passport details, one-time passwords (OTPs), or banking and card information with unverified sources.

SriLankan Airlines further reminded customers that all genuine promotions, offers, and official communications are shared exclusively through its verified channels, including its official website, mobile application, hotline, and authenticated social media pages.

The airline urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious messages to the relevant authorities.
