The development was discussed during a meeting between Palestinian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ihab I. M. Khalil and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the Ambassador expressed gratitude for Sri Lanka’s continued support for the Palestinian people amid the ongoing crisis.

Ambassador Khalil conveyed the Palestinian Government’s special appreciation for Sri Lanka’s unwavering backing, particularly its support for Palestine-related resolutions at the United Nations. He noted that Sri Lanka’s consistent stance at international forums has been highly valued by the Palestinian leadership and people.

The Ambassador also described the invitation extended to the Palestinian Foreign Minister as a great honor, and reiterated the long-standing appreciation of the Palestinian people for Sri Lanka’s decades-long support for Palestinian rights at the international level.
