Namal says protecting Buddha Sasana is not racism

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and MP Namal Rajapaksa said that safeguarding Buddha Dhamma, Buddha Sasana, and the Maha Sangha should not be regarded as an act of racism.

Addressing the media at the SLPP party office on Nelum Mawatha today, he stated that the majority of Sri Lankans are Buddhists and that the protection of Buddhist culture and philosophy contributes to the preservation of harmony among all religions in the country.

Mr. Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka was built on a Buddhist foundation and that a nation grounded in Buddhism has the capacity to protect and respect all faiths.

He further noted that his commitment to protecting Buddhist culture does not exclude other communities, adding that belief in one’s own religion enables respect for and protection of other cultures, languages, and religious traditions.
