Sri Lankan athletes who competed in the Asian Rifle Pistol Shooting Championship 2026 in India returned home on the night of February 10, bringing pride with a silver and a bronze medal.
The championship, held in New Delhi from February 2 to 10, featured top shooting athletes from across Asia and was organized by the Asian Shooting Federation and the Rifle Association of India.
Umaya Kumarasiri, competing in the junior air rifle women’s category, secured a silver medal. She is a student of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya.
Meanwhile, Prabha Rahuman, Sinadi Kodikara, and Rainia Ranasinghe, representing Sri Lanka in the 10m air pistol youth women’s event, clinched the bronze medal.
The athletes arrived at Katunayake Airport on Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL-196 from New Delhi at 10:00 pm, where they were warmly welcomed by officials of the National Rifle Association, school teachers, and parents.
