The Cabinet has approved a proposal to procure lubricants for the 12 diesel engine-powered generating sets at the Sapugaskanda Power Plant through a National Competitive Bidding (NCB) process.

The generating sets, which operate as base load plants, require specific lubricants as recommended by the original equipment manufacturer in the operation and maintenance manuals. These lubricants are essential for the smooth and efficient operation of the power plant.

The current supplier’s contract is set to expire on May 9, 2026. Following Cabinet approval, a new supplier will be selected through the NCB process for a one-year period, ensuring continued compliance with technical standards and operational requirements.

Officials noted that this move is aimed at maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the power plant while adhering to transparent procurement practices.
