A meeting was held between Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva and the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat, Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, during Silva’s official visit to India at the invitation of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Discussions focused on the future development of Gujarat and its industrial growth. The two sides also exchanged views on potential future cooperation in key sectors such as industry, tourism and garments in Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, Tilvin Silva recalled the arrangements made by the Gujarat state authorities for the transfer of the Sacred Kapilavastu Relics to Sri Lanka, enabling Buddhist devotees to pay homage. He also expressed gratitude for the assistance extended to Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditva.
Silva is also scheduled to visit New Delhi and Kerala as part of his India tour, where he is expected to hold discussions with the Chief Ministers of those states.
