This special service is aimed at Sri Lankans living abroad and migrant communities who find it difficult to visit diplomatic missions on weekdays due to work commitments. Through this initiative, essential consular services will be made available on public holidays, offering greater convenience and accessibility.
In the first phase, the weekend consular service will be implemented in the following countries:
South Korea, Kuwait, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Israel.
The ministry stated that the program is expected to significantly benefit overseas Sri Lankans by ensuring easier access to consular assistance while reducing weekday congestion at diplomatic missions.
