National Organizer and MP of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Namal Rajapaksa, urged the government to listen to the demands of doctors and professionals and focus on the suffering of patients in state hospitals.
Speaking to journalists, Rajapaksa said it was unfortunate that the government ignored professionals but provided them vehicles bought on loans. He criticized what he described as the shame of showcasing military and police equipment obtained on loans to end the war, while not feeling ashamed to use luxury vehicles purchased on credit.
He stressed that the money spent on such vehicles could instead be invested in the health sector to improve facilities and ease the hardships faced by ordinary people. Rajapaksa made these remarks while responding to a question on whether Basil Rajapaksa had returned to the country.
