A tragic road accident occurred this afternoon (8) in the Amithirigala area of Avissawella when a car collided with a motorcycle, police said.
Following the collision, the motorcycle caught fire. Five injured persons were admitted to the Avissawella Base Hospital for treatment, where three of them succumbed to their injuries.
Further investigations into the incident are underway.
