The accidents occurred near the 3.8 km, 3.4 km, and 3.2 km posts. One of the incidents involved a lorry transporting vegetables from Dambulla to Ahangama, which overturned in the middle of the road. Police stated that a burst tyre caused the accident.
Due to the overturned lorry, one lane of the expressway was closed for nearly an hour, causing traffic congestion in the area.
Two additional accidents were reported near the 3.4 km post, further contributing to traffic disruptions. A bus was also among the six vehicles involved in the three accidents.
Police confirmed that no injuries were reported from any of the incidents.
