The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced that a 22-hour water supply interruption will be imposed in several areas of the Kandy district today (08), starting from 6.00 a.m.
According to the NWSDB, the water cut is due to urgent maintenance work being carried out by the Mahaweli Authority at the Polgolla Reservoir in Kandy.
In a statement, the Board said that the water supply will be suspended from 6.00 a.m. today (08) until 4.00 a.m. tomorrow (09).
The areas affected by the water cut include Asgiriya (Kandy Municipal Council area), Wegiriya, Pallemulla, New and Old Yatahalagala, Kondadeniya, Rajapihilla Service Reservoir, Medawala (Old) Service Reservoir, Kahawatta, Kurugoda, Bulugohothenna, Girakaduwa, Kahalla, Thelambugahawatta, Nugawela, Balanagala, Medawala (New) Service Reservoir, Galagedara, and Mawathagama.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the public and requested consumers to use water sparingly during this period.
