​​​​​Clash between two Beruwala schools leaves seven students injured

Seven students were injured following a clash between two schools in the Beruwala area and have been admitted to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred yesterday (05) after a heated argument between two groups of students from Walatara Maha Vidyalaya and Aluthgama Padagoda Maha Vidyalaya, both in the Beruwala Educational Zone, escalated into violence.

A teacher from one of the schools has lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that the targeted students of the other school who had been attending a seminar at Aluthgama Padagoda Vidyalaya at the time of the incident.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that several individuals from the surrounding area were also involved in the assault.

Police further stated that one of the injured students is due to undergo surgery after sustaining a head injury.

Aluthgama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
