Seven students were injured in a clash between two schools in the Beruwala area and have been admitted to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital, police said.

The incident occurred yesterday (05 February) following a heated argument between groups of students from Walatara Maha Vidyalaya and Aluthgama Padagoda Maha Vidyalaya, both part of the Beruwala Educational Zone.

According to police, a teacher from one of the schools filed a complaint alleging that the attack targeted students from the other school who were attending a seminar at Aluthgama Padagoda Maha Vidyalaya.

Investigations have revealed that other individuals from the area were also involved in the attack. One of the injured students is scheduled to undergo surgery for a head injury sustained during the clash.

The Aluthgama Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
