The President’s Fund has allocated Rs. 1,925,010,000 to provide financial assistance to schoolchildren in all districts affected by Cyclone Ditwah, according to the President’s Media Division.

The allocation is intended to support the distribution of a Rs. 10,000 grant per student from the President’s Fund. All relevant allocations have now been forwarded by the respective District Secretaries to the Divisional Secretaries to facilitate disbursement.

To ensure the continuity of education for schoolchildren affected by the cyclone, the Government has approved a total assistance package of Rs. 25,000 per student. Of this amount, Rs. 15,000 will be provided from the General Treasury, while Rs. 10,000 will be funded by the President’s Fund.

The President’s Media Division said that the Rs. 10,000 grant has already been fully disbursed to schoolchildren in the districts of Ampara, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Monaragala, Mannar and Vavuniya. Financial assistance for schoolchildren in the remaining affected districts is expected to be provided shortly.
