Supreme Court clears Parliamentary Pensions (Abolition) Bill

The Speaker has received the determination of the Supreme Court on the “Parliamentary Pensions (Abolition)” Bill, which was challenged under Article 121(1) of the Constitution.

Speaking in Parliament today (06), the Speaker said the Supreme Court has ruled that none of the provisions of the Bill are inconsistent with the Constitution and that the Bill can be passed in Parliament with a simple majority.
