Sri Lanka’s Parliament is scheduled to convene today (06) at 9.30 a.m., with amendments made to the day’s parliamentary business.

Accordingly, the Parliamentary Business Committee has decided to take up for debate the resolution related to the proclamation made under the Public Security Ordinance, as published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2473/14.

The debate will be held from 11.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Parliament Secretary General Kushani Rohanaweera said.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Parliamentary Business Committee held on the 3rd, under the patronage of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

As a result of this decision, Private Members’ Motions and the motion scheduled to be taken up at the adjournment of the House on the same day will be deferred to a later date.

Meanwhile, it was also agreed to approve, without debate, the resolution made under the Essential Public Services Act and published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2473/13 dated January 28, 2026. This approval is scheduled to take place today at 5.30 p.m.
