The High-Level Committee for Foreign Relief Aid (Supplies) Coordination (HL-FRAC) met at the Parliament Complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Defence, Aruna Jayasekara.
The meeting focused on reviewing the coordination of foreign relief assistance and implementing measures to ensure transparency and operational efficiency in all relief activities. Committee members discussed mechanisms for the systematic, transparent and equitable allocation and distribution of aid to ensure it reaches intended beneficiaries, while also strengthening planning for future supply requirements.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defence stressed the importance of coordinated action and effective collaboration among all relevant institutions to maximize the use of foreign relief assistance. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to enhancing relief coordination frameworks to ensure efficiency, accountability and timely delivery. He also instructed the committee to submit all relevant reports and information to the Presidential Secretariat without delay.
Senior officials from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defence, and representatives from the Presidential Secretariat and Sri Lanka Customs were among those present at the meeting.
