Graduates currently employed in the public service can apply online from today (05) for the competitive examination to recruit teachers to vacancies in national and provincial schools across the country.

According to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, applications from public service graduates will be accepted from 9.00 a.m. today until 9.00 p.m. on February 19.

Graduates who are not employed in the public service may submit online applications from 9.00 a.m. on February 20 until 9.00 p.m. on March 5.

The Ministry issued two gazette notifications announcing the application dates amid ongoing protests by Sri Lanka School Development Officers, who have been serving in schools for over seven years and are currently staging a hunger strike in front of the Presidential Secretariat demanding absorption into the teaching service.

According to the gazette notifications, the maximum age limit for public service graduates appearing for the examination should not exceed 45 years as at February 10, 2023, while the age limit for graduates not in the public service should not exceed 40 years as at the same date.
