Samudika Jayaratne, who previously served as Senior Deputy Auditor General at the Auditor General’s Department, was nominated for the post by the President and subsequently approved by the Council.
The appointment follows several earlier meetings of the Constitutional Council regarding the position of Auditor General, where consensus on previous nominees could not be reached. With today’s decision, the long-standing vacancy in the office of the Auditor General is expected to be formally filled.
