Shiranthi Rajapaksa was previously summoned on 27 January 2026 to provide a statement to the FCID. Through her attorney, she informed authorities that she was unable to attend on that date and requested a two-week extension. Despite this, she has been directed to appear before the division today.
Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament and National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today. He had previously been summoned, but as he was abroad at the time, he requested a rescheduled date, leading to the issuance of today’s summons.
The appearances of both high-profile figures come amid ongoing investigations into alleged financial irregularities and other matters under the purview of the FCID and CID.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specifics of the investigations or the nature of the questioning expected.
