The Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, S. Aloka Bandara, has called on the public to display the national flag at all institutions, residences, and vehicles in commemoration of Sri Lanka’s 78th Independence Day.
Instructions have been issued to ensure the national flag is displayed at all government buildings across the country.
Independence Day celebrations will begin tonight with a special religious sermon at the Independence Hall, organized by the Ministry of Buddhist Affairs. A floral tribute to D.S. Senanayake, along with other religious observances, is also scheduled.
The main national ceremony will take place at Independence Square, Colombo, on February 4, while additional events will be held at provincial, district, and divisional secretariat levels islandwide.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of national unity and public participation, urging citizens to take part in the commemorations and proudly display the national flag.
