Lanka Sugar Company (Private) Limited has clarified that its Nugegoda retail outlet is fully operational, dismissing recent social media claims about the store’s closure as false and misleading.
The company explained that the outlet was temporarily closed on Saturday, January 31, due to the illness of a sales employee. It remained closed on Sunday, February 1, in line with standard practice for Poya Day.
Lanka Sugar Company warned that misinterpretations of these routine closures circulated online, causing unnecessary confusion among customers. The company reaffirmed its commitment to uninterrupted service, operating under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and fully owned by the General Treasury.
The Nugegoda store’s operating hours are:
- Weekdays and Saturdays: 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
- Sundays: 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
The company urged the public to rely solely on official announcements from Lanka Sugar Company and to disregard unverified information shared on social media.
