Police opened fire on a lorry this morning in the Dharmapuram area after it was found driving without a permit.
Officers attempted to stop the speeding vehicle at a roadblock, but when it was discovered transporting sand illegally, police fired at its wheels. The driver fled the scene following the shooting.
Dharmapuram Police are conducting further investigations to apprehend the suspect.
