According to police reports, the lawyers were confronted by a group of individuals while leaving court proceedings at the Nugegoda Gamsabha Junction. The suspects reportedly surrounded their vehicle, issued death threats, and caused damage to the car, committing acts of criminal intimidation and mischief.
Following the incident, three police teams, including officers from the Mirihana Police, launched an investigation. Early today, 1 February, a 43-year-old resident of Kajulandawatte, Madampe, was arrested in connection with the case. The arrest was made on charges of unlawful obstruction, criminal intimidation, mischief, and participation in an unlawful assembly.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today for an identification parade. Investigations are ongoing, with police working to arrest the remaining individuals involved in the attack.
