The appointment of members to the Textile and Apparel Manufacturing Industry Advisory Council was carried out yesterday (29) under the patronage of the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Sunil Handunnetti.
The council is one of the 26 Sectoral Advisory Councils operating under the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development. It consists of 25 members representing the public sector, private sector, and academic sector.
Mr. Hemantha Perera, Managing Director of Isabella (Pvt) Ltd and Sarasavi Export (Pvt) Ltd, was appointed as the Chairman of the Advisory Council. The council has been appointed for a two-year term and is mandated to provide guidance, support, and strategic direction for the development of the textile and apparel manufacturing industry.
