Gangaramaya Navam Maha Perahera to parade Colombo streets on January 31 and February 1

The annual Navam Maha Perahera of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya in Colombo is scheduled to parade through the city streets tomorrow (January 31) and the day after (February 1).

The grand cultural procession is held under the guidance of Venerable Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero, Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya, and organized by the Gangaramaya Dayaka Sabha.

This year’s perahera will feature a wide range of cultural performances, including traditional dancers, drummers, and other artistic displays. A large number of elephants are also expected to take part, adding to the splendor of the event.

With the participation of both local and international dance troupes, the Gangaramaya Perahera showcases Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and national identity, presenting it to the world as a major cultural festival.

The Gangaramaya Navam Maha Perahera continues to attract immense interest from devotees, the general public, and tourists, with large crowds expected to gather from all parts of the country to witness the event.
