The government will not allow a child’s education to be determined by the financial capacity of parents, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya affirmed today.

Speaking at the national programme launching new education reforms for Grade One students, she assured parents that the government has taken responsibility for safeguarding the future of every child.

She also highlighted that the reforms pay special attention to enhancing teacher professionalism, ensuring that educators are equipped not only to teach academic subjects but also to guide children in life skills.

The event was attended by religious leaders, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament, education officials, school administrators and parents, marking broad support for the country’s new direction in education.
