The national ceremony to admit students to Grade One for the year 2026 was held today (29) at Athurugiriya Gunasekara Vidyalaya, under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The Ministry of Education plans to implement the new Grade One curriculum from this year, in line with the country’s ongoing education reforms.
Issuing a congratulatory message to children entering Grade One, the Prime Minister stated that the government’s objective is to provide quality education in a prosperous nation. She emphasized that no child’s education should be determined by the economic status of their parents and stressed that no child should be excluded from education.
