Passengers and railway employees are facing mounting difficulties due to administrative inefficiencies within the Railway Department, the Railway Station Master’s Association has warned.

In a statement, the association highlighted that delays in implementing interim arrangements for the recruitment and promotion of Railway Station Master officers have disrupted station operations and affected employee morale.

The association also criticized the department’s decision to reduce the disaster loan amount for public employees from Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 250,000, despite the government approving an increase to Rs. 400,000. “This undermines an official government decision and constitutes a serious injustice to railway employees,” the statement said.

Passengers, meanwhile, are experiencing daily inconvenience due to improper train planning, ineffective schedules, and operational weaknesses. The association placed responsibility for these disruptions squarely on the departmental administration, urging prompt action to resolve the issues.
