The case filed by the Criminal Investigation Department against former State Minister Diana Gamage was taken up before the Colombo Additional Magistrate’s Court today (26).
The matter was heard before Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva, who ordered that further evidence in the case be called on February 16.
The Criminal Investigation Department, acting on the advice of the Attorney General, has filed charges against the former State Minister under seven counts. The charges allege that she violated the Immigration and Emigration Control Act by remaining in Sri Lanka without a valid visa and by submitting false information to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration to obtain a passport.
According to the CID, the alleged offences were committed between July 14, 2016 and November 1, 2020.
